Wei-Zheng (Wendi) Shen, PhD

Dr. Wendi Shen has always enjoyed trying new things.  Born in China, Ingenuity Lab’s Inorganic Nano-Particle Specialist has travelled extensively, visiting more than 15 countries for various academic conferences and exchange programs.

After spending six years at a top research institute in Germany, Wendi was drawn to Edmonton in 2010.  These days you will find her applying earlier PhD discoveries around targeted drug delivery to the leading-edge biomining research advances at our lab.  This innovative work, which focuses on the fabrication of a library of magnetic nanoparticles, is sure to attract attention.

Outside of the lab, Wendi is eager to share her passion for education and science with others.  She has taken the opportunity to volunteer as a high school teacher and generously given her time to assist university students as they prepared for medical college admission tests.
